Win tickets to see Sluts — now on show in The New Theatre

Described as a play about “stupid bitches”, Sluts focuses on four girls who are part friends, part enemies.

Fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but refined for its latest run, it is an original play written by Caitríona Daly and performed by the We Get High On This Theatre Collective.

The girls are getting ready for a night on the town and as they apply false lashes and hairspray by the bucket-load, the conversation turns to men. It is a situation most women will find all too familiar.

Each character is a heightened version of a teenage stereotype — the cold-hearted bitch, the drama queen, the hanger-on and the proper ‘slut’.

The play attempts to address why we fall in to these roles, and will leave women questioning their own role within their group of girlfriends.

The bounds of friendship are tested and we are left asking: why are these girls even friends?

It could be likened to a very Irish teenage version of Sex and the City. But unlike with SATC, Sluts will leave you feeling like you have been in that bedroom, having that conversation, wearing those Ugg boots.

Sluts is part of this year’s 10 Days of Dublin Festival, and is currently playing at The New Theatre in Temple Bar, running until July 11 (this Wednesday) and starting at 6pm.
