As part of a college assignment on user experience (UX), we were asked to explore the user journey for wedding photography business. The process can be useful in figuring out potential pain points to improve upon within your business process. It can also be a bit fun.
Woman worries about planning a wedding so asks anyone she knows for advice.
Couple discuss budget. They dream big, but budget may not stretch quite as far due to lack of money.
Use Google to research photographers, browse styles and look up references.
Discover the multitude of bad wedding photo lists/Tumblr feeds.
Decide that a photographer is an essential part of the budget.
Consider the photography scale of price vs quality, and how in line that is with the budget.
Discover your ‘wow’ factor photographer.
Arrange to meet the photographer to discuss the details.
Photographers meet with clients over an informal cup of tea to discuss the services required/available.
Agree on a price and package.
Wedding day arrives. Traditional photos of the couple and wedding party are taken.

Couple are emailed a fancy wedding photo to add to their Facebook status change.
Later on the photos are available online and on CD for the couple. They can provisionally select the photos they’d like printed/blown up/deleted from there.
The couple meet with the photographers one final time to discuss the final prints. There may be certain key family members left out of the final selection by accident. Also if there are funny pictures of friends after one too many lemonades, you may not want them in the final edit of the wedding, but Facebook is a good home for them. The photographers will notice this and guide you on a checklist of things you may not have thought of.
The prints are delivered and the bills are all paid off in full.
The couple tell all their engaged friends about their lovely wedding photographers and go on to use them again to record other milestones throughout their happily ever after life together.
