The top Harlem Shake videos you must see before it’s over

February 18, 2013 in Blog, Irish Daily Star

The exact etymology of the Harlem Shake has been much debated, but essentially all you need to know is that it’s all based around a track by Baauer.

The set up is simple – People are doing their own thing getting on with their business – and then all hell breaks loose after the 15 second mark.

On February 10 2013 the rate of Harlem Shake videos being uploaded to YouTube was 4,000 per day and is now Number 1 in the iTunes charts.

Our favourites so far have been scientifically measured – plotting the quality of randomness against the quantity of silly dance moves. Our empirical results revealed the following:

Dublin Bus
Top billing to my favourite Irish shake – the Dublin Bus edition. Answers on a postcard if you can tell me which Nightlink this was on?

There is a walrus and a sea lion leading the pack.

Washing machine edition
Just wait… you’ll know why when you see it…

Norwegian army shake
One of the original army shakes, and possibly the best.

Georgia’s men’s swimming & diving club
Keep your eyes peeled for the guy in the sleeping bag.

Chegg executive boardroom – an American student book rental business
Well it’s certainly one way to prove to you’re down with the kids and hip to the groove…
Also – that guy is just so unnerving – why won’t he look away?!
