Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki body painting

May 22, 2016 in Body Painting

Integrating the characters from some of my favourite of Hayao Miyazaki’s work with Studio Ghibli, this body painting holds a special place in my heart.

My model is a good friend of mine, who I have been hoping to paint for a long time. I wanted to paint something personal to me, since Gavin knows me so well.

My interpretation relates to my inner child. Haku (the dragon – from Spirited Away) represents the dangers and scary things in the world. At first they seem evil, but after some help they become a force of good, and can help you on your journey. Calcipher (the fire – from Howl’s Moving Castle) represents my heart. It can be panicked at times when threatened, but it is powerful, and has more strength that it realises.
